Making preparations for ourselves in old age, or for our loved ones after our death, is something we should all consider and act upon sooner rather than later.

These preparations broadly fall into three categories:

Making a Will
Granting Powers of Attorney
Funding for care in old age

It is particularly important to make a Will.  Without one you have no control over who will inherit your estate.  It is equally important that your affairs are managed properly when you are alive should you lose your mental capacity to deal with matters yourself, whether temporarily or permanently.  This can be dealt with by granting Power of Attorney to someone you trust.

Everyone worries about the expense of care fees that may be charged if we have to enter residential or nursing home care.  With careful planning in advance we can help you protect your assets, especially your home, from being swallowed up in fees.

If you or an elderly relative have already entered the care system and have had to sell a home to pay for care, we may be able to recover this money back from the government if we feel that it should have been paid for by them.  Such a claim can even be made after a patient has died.  brains are experts in making such claims and recovering money that is owed to you.
